The Sagewood Residents’ Foundation was created in 2013 to provide higher education scholarships to employees and their dependents as well as fund other educational programs for the Sagewood community. The Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization and contributions are tax exempt to the extent allowed by law.
In 2014, the foundation granted scholarships to 16 recipients. Since the first scholarship awards were granted in 2014, the number of awards has increased annually with 55 scholarships, valued at $202,555 granted in 2020. Since 2014 over 300 scholarships totaling over $800,000 have been awarded. Just like Benjamin Franklin said, “an Investment in knowledge always pays the best interest.”
I am forever grateful for the opportunities to further my education that working at Acacia has provided. The Sagewood Residents’ Foundation has truly been a lifesaver for me to receive both my associate’s & bachelor’s degree s in nursing. And it has made me want to continue to achieve my Nurse Practitioner license.
I am pursuing a degree in psychology and am the first in my family to attend college. I now have a son and have double motivation to graduate because not only am I building a career for myself but working to provide a good life for him. This scholarship provides the help to make our dreams come true.
For the past 11 years Sagewood has been my home away from home and it is such an honor that the Sagewood Residents’ Foundation will play a significant role in furthering my nursing career! As the mother of three daughters, they are led by example. And I am honored that I have been able to show them what can happen when you apply perseverance and dedication.
I am a sophomore at Arizona State University and plan to major in Computer Information Systems. Seeing how hard my parents work to give my siblings and me the life they never had has motivated me greatly to achieve my long-term goals. Being able to receive this level of education is a blessing and I thank the Foundation Scholarship committee for giving me this opportunity.
